Double-Roller Granulator is the most commonly employed granulation machine in fertilizer production, frequently utilised in the manufacture of compound fertilizes (NPK), organic-inorganic compound fertilizes, and deicing agent granules.
However, during practical operation, users often encounter operational uncertainties.
For instance, how to replace the rollers, how to prevent material from adhering to the rollers, and how to select a Double-Roller Granulator suitable for one's needs.
Our team of engineers will address each of these common issues in turn.
Firstly, when selecting a Double-Roller Granulator, the user must choose the appropriate model based on their production requirements. Numerous models of Double-Roller Granulators are commonly available on the market, typically differentiated by output capacity. Examples include 1TPH, 1.5TPH, and 2TPH. However, some suppliers may inform customers that they offer a 3TPH model, though this output level is often not guaranteed.

Users should clearly define the required particle size, with 3-4mm being the standard size for compound fertiliser granules in many countries. Particle size is determined by the diameter of the grooves on the rollers, allowing for customisation.
Secondly, the material composition of the rollers is another critical consideration for users. Rollers are manufactured from either carbon steel or low-carbon, high-chromium stainless steel (3Cr13). For producing non-corrosive granules, such as bentonite granules or organic fertilizer pellets, carbon steel rollers may be employed. However, should the raw materials exhibit corrosive properties, we recommend utilising stainless steel construction.
Thirdly, when selecting a Double-Roller Granulator, users must also consider the required hardness of the produced pellets. For instance, when manufacturing standard fertilizer pellets or deicing agent pellets, we require a pellet hardness of ≥ 12–15 N. In such cases, a granulator with a single-roll structure suffices. However, when producing carbon powder pellets, due to the material's high compression difficulty and stringent hardness requirements, we typically recommend employing a multi-roll granulator.

Finally, we must also consider motor quality and the type of gearbox. Where budget permits, we typically recommend hard-toothed gearboxes to our clients. These gearboxes offer more stable performance, lower noise levels, high transmission efficiency, strong load-bearing capacity, and a longer service life.
